Brandon Jackson - Don't Cause A Kurfluffle

I was recently asked by my good friend Kevin Lively who teaches recording classes at The Academy of Contemporary Music at UCO to be a guest artist for one of his recording classes and record a song with his students. Over a three week period we get 2 hours a week to give the students an experience of a real recording session. They do everything from setting up equipment, running cables, setting up mics, as well as running the board and learning how to run Pro Tools. I only wish I had access to a studio like this when I was getting my degree in Music Business. We are recording a new tune called "I Wish You'd Call", and have already finished 2 of the 3 classes getting drums, acoustic, electric, and leads already recorded. It has been tons of fun and I'm very impressed with how professional and serious the students have taken everything throughout the sessions. What a great thing to have right here in Oklahoma for students who have a passion for music! The music business is a crazy tough business to be a part of, and I have certainly learned a ton from my experiences working in this world. The hands on experiences these students get at ACM@UCO are amazing and equipping them for the real world of the music business. Very cool stuff!

What a weekend!!

Man, what a great weekend this past weekend. Friday, I got a chance to play an acoustic show with my long time and very good friend Nathan Clewell at Red Dirt Grill in Lawton. What a great time!! We'll do it again, so I hope you can make it to the next one!

Saturday, I shot the video to my new single, Oklahoma County Line. Thanks to The Hopper Ranch for letting us use their facilities, and thanks to Gary and Tammy for getting some great footage! I can't wait to share the finished product with you guys! Here's a pic

Finally on Sunday I got a chance to play Texas Red Dirt Roads with Justin Frazell at Fat Daddy's in Mansfield, TX. What a great time telling stories and song swapping with Bo Phillips and Bart Crow. Thank you to all the fans for coming out to the show and for those of you who got to listen online!

It was a lot of work, but more than anything it was a lot of fun. Thank you all for your support, I couldn't do it with out you!

The State Fair of Texas

Just got booked to play at The State Fair of Texas on The Chevrolet Main stage on Sunday, Oct. 7th! I'm really looking forward to it! Should be a great time, so anyone going to The State Fair of Texas, come out and see the show!

Recording

Hey all, we are heading into the studio to record a demo of one of my new tunes. Really looking forward to it! We'll be recording at Flatland Recording Studio in Stillwater, OK with my good friend Tony Pearce engineering. Look for pics and video clips throughout the day!

2012!

So, I'm currently couching it up working on a ton of different things Brandon Jackson Music related. I'm really excited about this upcoming year and I'm so determined to introduce more and more people to me and my music! An artist would be nothing without their fans and I'm grateful for all of you who call yourself Brandon Jackson fans! You are so important to what we do here, and I want to say thanks for helping us spread the word! Keep it up!

I'm sure you saw through Facebook and twitter updates that we had a few rehearsals over the Christmas holidays to update the set for this next year. We have some new originals and have worked up a few new cover tunes to put in the set. We're working hard to keep the live show fresh for the fans and for ourselves. Who wants to see the same show over and over again. I don't! We've also added a new piece of equipment for the live show. We are now traveling with an in-ear rig! We broke it in last week at the show at Riley's Place in Marlow, and couldn't be happier with how it's gonna help with our live sound. A Big thanks to Mike for putting it together! Sam was out at Outlaws in Stillwater a couple nights ago and got a video of them playing 'Dancing'! A big thanks to Outlaws for playing my music in your club! Very cool.

Ok folks, I've spent all afternoon writing this blog entry as I work back and forth between 20 things! Ha! I have to wrap it up and get to work on some other stuff. I hope you will join us on what promises to be a fun and exciting year! Keep spreading the word and we'll see ya at a show near you!
