Hey guys,
I hope everyone had a Happy Holidays! I had a great Christmas and New Year with my family and just enjoyed my time off. No it's time to get back to work!
I'm excited about this new year and everything that is to come. I am finishing up the mix of the CD this week, and am on track to have it out by March! No date is set as of yet, but I will announce it very soon! I have also had the opportunity to do a lot of interviews about my upcoming release and you can find those in the Nashville Music Guide (as well as my mug on the cover), and the Unrated Music article. You can pick up the January issue of The Nashville Music guide at Hastings in Stillwater for free, or at any of my shows! Pick one up! Also a big thanks to 95.9 The Ranch in Ft. Worth, TX and 105.5 Cowboy Country in Stillwater, OK for playing an acoustic version of "Now That I Found You". Please give them a ring and request the song!
One of my New Year's resolutions is to stay in touch with my fans through this blog on a regular basis, so please keep coming back and I will keep you all updated! Thanks, and here's to a HUGE 2011!!

Texas Music Interactive on 95.9 The Ranch

So last week I got to play an acoustic show with my good friend Johnny Cooper! It had been way too long since we had the chance to do that, and it was a blast! It was good to catch up with him and play some songs together. If you missed it, don't worry, I think we will plan another one!

Well tonight at 8pm I will be the featured guest on Texas Music Interactive on 95.9 The Ranch in Ft. Worth, Texas. If you live in Ft. Worth, then you know how to listen, but if you live outside the range of the radio tower, all you have to do is go to www.959theranch.com, click to the TMI tab, and you can listen and interact with me online! Ask me questions, watch me play a couple of acoustic songs, and listen to the interview! Join in on the fun tonight starting at 8pm! Also, don't forget to vote for my song on the Texas Toss Up! You can vote online all week, here, as much as you want, and can text your vote (FW Brandon) to 53318 up to, but no more than 10 times this week! So now that you know, spread the word to EVERYONE and get to voting!

Today I'm sitting in the studio in Denton, TX watching Eric Delegard work his magic mixing the CD and all I can say is WOW! I finished recording all my stuff in August and haven't heard a note since then, and I had a few of my musicians finish up their tracks while I was away so I hadn't heard their work. Amazing stuff! This is turning out to be an amazing record! I can't wait for you all to hear it! I'm still shooting for a late Feb./early March release, but I will have to keep you updated on that.

Thanks to everyone who came out to a show over this past week, and I'm looking forward to the interview tonight, so I hope you all will be listening, watching and chatting!

p.s. the show at The Red Dirt Saloon in Edmond, OK that was scheduled for this Friday, Dec. 10, has been moved to Sat., Dec. 11! See ya there!

Acoustic Oklahoma

So last week my Director of Social Media/Publicist got in touch with me about a project called Acoustic Oklahoma. It's a simple project where a guy by the name of Casey Friedman records different Oklahoma Artists acoustic with a small video camera in a rustic old apartment atop the Horn Trader in Oklahoma City. A simple yet brilliant idea! If you haven't heard of it, check it out, it's awesome the number of talented singer songwriters there are in this state!
This past Wednesday I was able to meet up and record a song and though it was short, it was a great experience. I was very honored to be a part of this project. Here is the video from that session. I'm not sure exactly what is gonna come from this project, but it is something that has tremendous potential to shine a light on the many talented musicians this state still has to offer the world. Thanks Casey!

I wanna thank Katie Key for catching up with me this last week for the readers of Best in Texas Magazine and The Texas Music Chart. Here's the write up she had in her "Key Notes" section on the Texas Music Chart Website:

BIG SCREEN DEBUTS

My buddy Brandon Jackson (formerly with No Justice) sent me a note as to what’s going on with him and damn it’s cool!

“I have been very busy over the last year since I left No Justice. I have spent the time playing acoustic shows and putting together my first solo album. I just recently finished recording and am currently mixing the project. I'm really proud of it and am shooting for a release date sometime in February 2011. I will be putting a band together soon and get back out on the road full band to promote the CD.

Also, this summer I got a role in a film written and directed by Famke Janssen starring Milla Jovovich, Bill Pullman, Marcia Cross, and Rory Cochrane titled ‘Bringing Up Bobby.’ It was a blast getting to work with Milla and Rory and I'm looking forward to seeing the finished product. The film should be released sometime next year!” That is so cool!

Also, we are working on a new website in preparation for the new cd release. I will let ya know as the launch date gets closer. Thank you to all the fans for supporting my music and sharing it with everyone you know! I look forward to getting out on the road full band and seeing you all face to face and getting the cd in all of your hands!

Dirty's & JC Cowboys

This last week was a fun week of shows with some great artists. I started the week off with my weekly show at Dirty's in Stillwater on Monday with Brandon Johnson and Sam Caire! It turned out to be a really fun show. If you weren't there, you missed a good one. Fun shows like that always seem to go way too fast. Before I knew it, it was already closing time. If you get a chance, check out Brandon Johnson, he's just getting started in the Red Dirt scene but is already showing signs of being a very talented singer-songwriter. Of course, I always love it when my good friend Sam Caire sits in with me. He adds so much to my show with his guitar work and vocals. He did some guitar work and vocals on my cd too, and absolutely nailed it. I can't wait for you guys to hear it! Not to mention a co-write on a song too.

Thursday I played at JC Cowboys in Weatherford with Chad Sullins & Britni Hoover. Chad and I have played several shows together, and every time I hear him he just gets better and better. We have plans to play many more acoustic shows together so stay tuned. Also go out and get his CD "Uphill Battle", there are a lot of great songs on that one. Chad will also be releasing an acoustic ep this December! I first heard Britni when I played the Haiti benefit at Cains in Tulsa earlier this year. I was truly blown away! Not only does she have an amazing voice, but her songwriting is top notch! Just absolutely beautiful tunes. We had a short set at the Haiti benefit so it was nice to play a full show with her and hear more of her songs as well as her take on several covers. I was very impressed.

So not only was it a great week of shows, but I was able to spend the weekend hanging with friends in Dallas on Saturday and celebrate a great Oklahoma State win over Texas Tech!

This next week I look forward to acoustic shows at Dirty's in Stillwater on Monday, Bin 73 in OKC on Thursday, and Red Dirt Saloon in Edmond on Friday. Then on Saturday I get to stay home in Stillwater and enjoy OSU Homecoming against Nebraska! Really looking forward to seeing the Cowboys continue to mature and play well against better opponents. OSU is a six point underdog as of today, but I'm not sure Nebraska will be able to stop the OSU offense enough, and I'd like to see how the OSU defense can stop the run and force Nebraska to throw the ball. Key to me is the O-line protecting Weeden and producing running lanes, and on defense getting a good rush with your front 4 while keeping Martinez contained. Ok, enough football analysis. Haha! We'll see ya at a show this week!

White Elephant show & Game day!

A big thanks to Ryan Booth for inviting me to play an acoustic show with him at the White Elephant last night. It was our first acoustic show together and I'm positive it won't be the last. I met Booth many years ago in Stillwater in the glory days of hanging out at the original Wormy Dog. It's great to see what he has accomplished musically and I look forward to seeing him excel in the business!
On another note, it's game day! I'm heading over to the stadium tonight to watch Oklahoma State take on Texas A&M in a great Thursday night Big XII match-up. My Dad will be in town to watch the game with me! The last time we watched a game this season together was the Troy game, that was a nail biter that I hope the Pokes don't repeat. Of course I'm wearing orange tented glasses, but I feel pretty confident that Oklahoma State will take care of the football, play a clean game and pull out a convincing win over A&M. We'll see!

Until next time!
